What is Net Metering?
Net Metering is in essence an agreement between the consumer and the utility company. The utility is obliged by law to buy back your surplus solar electricity production during hours of low demand/high production. Not all states and not all governments require net-metering arrangements The utility installs a bi-directional electric meter, that spins in reverse when you sell electricity to the utility. Net metering help you to balance your cost of solar energy production investment It is wise to use washing machines, cooking ovens and dish washers during nights when the KWh tariff is low, and to sell back electricity during day light when usually the home demand is low and the you sell the surplus KWh at a premium tariff
Net-metering augments available energy grants and energy tax credits and help to reduce the payback period of your residential solar power generator
